Dr. S Manjappa
Vice Chairman of the Combustion Institute (IS)

Dr S Manjappa completed his doctoral degree in Chemistry at Mysore University, Mysore, Karnataka during 1982. He worked in the area of water and waste water treatment schemes and Technologies, Air pollution control monitoring, EIA studies for developmental projects, production and process development of Ethanol from Cellulose. He has successfully guided 12 students leading to Doctoral Degree programme and presently 4 students are working as research scholars under his supervision. He is serving as member of technical advisory committee of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and as Member, Expert appraisal committees of Ministry of ecology and environment, Govt. of Inida, New Delhi for environmental clearance of infrastructure Miscellaneous and CRZ projects.  His areas of interest include Production of Ethanol, Use of Ethanol as alternative fuel in IC Engines and its performance studies. Production of Bio gas from high TDS spent wash from a distillery process. He has supported sponsored projects of worth more than Rs.2.0 crores.  He has authored 32 National and International Journal articles and 44 national and internationals conference articles.  He is the recipient of Karnataka State Environment Award 2009. National Award for Promising Engineering Teacher from ISTE, New Delhi, 2009 and Currently working as Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science and Technology Study Center at Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Davangere, Karnataka, India.
